Nik is a 11 month old Aussie/Border Collie mix that came to Safe Haven when he was just a 6 week old puppy. He has longed for a home for so long, and hopefully he will get one soon! Nik is a happy go lucky pup who just enjoys being in your company. Whether it be lounging on the couch enjoying a movie with you, or running with you on your daily runs! He chases balls and Frisbees, but hasn't learned how to bring them back yet lol. Nik gets along well with other dogs, cats and any person he comes into contact with. Although he is a bit leery with toddlers. He kind of shies away from them, but its because I have no kids and he was raised by me. ... (Read More)He has shown no aggression, though, so could probably adjust with no problem. Nik is updated on all shot and worming and has been neutered when he was 5 months old. He is crate trained and partially house trained if you take him out regularly. This boy deserves a home after being at the rescue for so long. Could you be it?? Bella is the sweetest pit mix of all! She came to Safe Haven as a stray who has been drug behind a truck going down the highway. All because he didn't want a stray in his yard. A Good Samaritan rescued her from the guy, and that's how I got her. Bella was very shy towards me at first, but I could understand why. Within three hours, though, I had her following me around without a leash, and she continues to do so! She is still shy of strangers, but again, I can understand why. Bella had several road rashes on her and I even pulled two BBs from her. She had been through A LOT! She was also very skinny. The vet estimated her to be no older than ... (Read More)2 years old, and she tested heartworm negative. Now about Bella herself: She loooooves other dogs, but IS food aggressive. I imagine she had to be in her past life to be able to eat what little she could find. She is leash trained, but will resist when going inside doors (ie vet, pet stores, and sometimes the house). I usually don't leash her unless I bring her to the pet store (where she is well known now) because she's so petite that I can just hold her at the vet, and around the house she just follows me around. She WILL be scared of you at first, but she comes around quickly. She just has to make sure you're not going to hurt her. People haven't been so good to her, sadly. She is not really a barker, but I have heard her bark when someone pulled up in the yard. Once she's comfortable with you, she'll meet you with a tail wagging so fast her butt moves with it. She weighs around 30 lbs, but still needs some weight gain. She's petite, as mentioned before. Doesn't even come to my knees. Bella has been fixed and is updated on all vetting. She sleeps in a crate at night, but does have accidents in them, although not all the time. She would learn to be house trained rather quickly, because she's a smart dog. Hello, My name is Emma. I have been at Safe Haven Dog Rescue since I was a 6 week old puppy, and I am now 11 months old (my bday is Feb 8!). I would like nothing more than to spend my first birthday in a forever home instead of a rescue. Although I do like it here, I would rather be in a home so I can get the one-on-one attention that I need. A little about me: I am a sweet girl, but im scared of some men. I won't bite them, I just bark until I see that theyre not going to hurt me. I love to cuddle (yes even with the men when I get to know them) and love warm doggie beds. But don't expect me to bring it back once its in my possessions ;). I do well at dog parks. I love having the room to run and play with new dogs! One time, I even started a run-a-thon within the park. I just kept running and running and all the dogs followed me. I am sorta dominant, but not to the point where I'd harm another dog. I'll just growl at them to give them a warning. Doesn't seem to be a problem at the dog park though! I will need to learn basic commands, but im extremely smart! I don't even think house training me would take long. Please let my rescuer know if you want me as a forever pet! She told me that there is someone out there for me, so I'm pwaying reeeeal hard. When you look into Maddie's eyes, you're looking into the eyes of someone who just needs a chance. You see, everyone passes Maddie up because of her shy character, and because she's black. But that doesn't make her any less of a lover. She just needs time and patience and for someone to see that black is a color too! Maddie is a 9 month old Aussie/Border collie mix that came to Safe Haven when she was a 6 week old puppy, along with her 7 siblings. (Read More)gong to the dog park regularly now and shes learning socialization skills. I actually saw her go up to a stranger requesting to be petted today! Time. Thats all that's needed. She's such a sweetheart! Maddie gets along well with other dogs (very submissive) and cats. She probably wouldn't do good around younger kids, though, as they tend to be more active and it scares her. Unless you're willing to work on her with that. She is crate trained and will willingly go into her crate at night. She's also spayed and updated on all shots, worming and heartworm prevention. Nugget has been with Safe Haven since he was a tiny puppy! He was found at McDonalds in Andalusia (hence his name) full of worms, yet skinny. He is around 5 months old and is a boxer/lab mix sweetheart. Nugget has had all of his shots and has been wormed every month along with heartworm prevention since we've had him. He's also been fixed! He is very friendly and has been raised around other dogs and cats. If you want a dog that likes to play ball, yet cuddle with you on the couch, this is your guy!
